Rules of the Reading Room

Community
Guidelines

The subject may be ridiculous. The standard of conduct is not.

Community Standard

Keep it funny, humane, and safe to participate.

Satire should point upward or inward.

Do not use the archive as cover for cruelty, targeted humiliation, harassment, or attacks on protected characteristics.

Respect privacy.

Do not post private contact information, intimate material, identifying documents, precise locations, or personal conversations without consent.

No threats, hate, or sexual exploitation.

Threatening content, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, non-consensual sexual content, and encouragement of harm are prohibited.

Do not flood the galleries.

No spam, scams, impersonation, automated posting, malicious links, coordinated disruption, or attempts to evade moderation.

Label fiction as fiction.

Do not present invented history, medical claims, or fabricated evidence as factual material. The archive’s own records remain visibly satirical.

Moderation is part of the exhibit infrastructure.

Content may be hidden, locked, or removed; participation may be rate-limited or suspended. Reporting and appeal details will launch with The Pulse.

The Pulse is not yet open. These rules are published in advance so moderation and safety are part of the product contract rather than an afterthought.
