I. Overview

Permanent settlement. Permanent witnesses.

Neolithic Queef marks the archive’s wholly fictional transition from the forgiving acoustics of caves to the socially complicated acoustics of people who have decided to stay in one place.

Within the dendrogram, PQ.002 follows Cave Queef and occupies the latter half of the Prehistoric lineage. Its supposed rise coincides broadly with the spread of farming and increasingly permanent settlements in many parts of the world. The archive makes no claim that these real historical developments had anything whatsoever to do with vaginal air.

What changes in the taxonomy is social density. A cave offers distance, darkness, irregular surfaces, and multiple innocent geological suspects. A settled community offers neighbors. The Institute therefore classifies PQ.002 as the first major specimen in which architecture improves daily life while simultaneously making the question “Who was that?” substantially harder to escape.

PQ.002 closes the archive’s Prehistoric branch and establishes several motifs that recur throughout later lineages: denser audiences, purpose-built architecture, social hierarchy, and the persistent gap between an event being audible and anyone being willing to acknowledge it.

Catalog transition: with PQ.002 entered, the Prehistoric specimen run is complete. The archive now approaches the Ancient branch, where the buildings become larger and the curatorial claims become correspondingly less responsible.

VI. Notable Alleged Incidents

Events preserved exclusively by our imagination

1. c. 9,200 BCE*
   The First Granary Draft

   Archive lore alleges that an otherwise routine storage inspection was interrupted by an acoustic event immediately blamed on ventilation, despite the granary having no ventilation worth mentioning.

2. c. 6,500 BCE*
   The Longhouse Silence

   A communal dwelling is said to have achieved eleven consecutive seconds of perfect social coordination as every occupant independently decided not to react.

3. c. 3,100 BCE*
   The Administrative Threshold

   As larger settlements, writing systems, and early states approached in parts of the ancient world, the specimen allegedly acquired its greatest evolutionary pressure: the looming possibility that somebody might finally write something down.

*All incidents, dates as applied to these incidents, titles, dialogue, and interpretations are fictional. Real Neolithic chronology varies substantially by region; this archive intentionally uses an oversimplified range for its satirical tree.
