The Medieval branch perfected the art of not acknowledging the event. EQ.301 arrives with notebooks, perspective lines, anatomical curiosity, and the dangerous belief that careful observation might finally settle the matter.
The archive’s Renaissance branch trades the seating chart for a perspective drawing. Every new line promises clarity and introduces another possible source.
Within the system, EQ.301 represents perspectival attribution displacement: the principle that once observers become sufficiently interested in geometry, anatomy, art, and inquiry, an embarrassing sound can be transformed from a social problem into a diagram with arrows.

Inquiry improves the diagram. The evidence stays exactly the same.
Proposed habitat
The archive imagines generic rooms associated with study, art, craft, conversation, and display: plaster, timber, masonry, textiles, open windows, worktables, and hard surfaces arranged for comedy rather than historical reconstruction.
Acoustic classification
Renascentia perspectiva. A class in which direct sound and room reflections are immediately subjected to measurement, interpretation, and the drawing of at least one completely unnecessary vanishing point.
The off-frame theorem
The Institute proposes that any unexplained source may be reassigned beyond the visual field if doing so improves the composition. This principle is useless to acoustics but tremendously convenient to everyone remaining in the room.
Likely scholarly response
One observer sketches the chamber. Another measures the distance to the wall. A third proposes an anatomical explanation. Nobody writes down the only question future researchers would actually want answered.
V. Lineage Significance
At last, the archive discovers anatomy and immediately misuses it.
EQ.301 introduces the Perspectival Attribution Principle: increased sophistication in observation does not necessarily produce increased willingness to identify the source of an awkward noise. Sometimes it produces a better drawing of the room in which nobody admits anything happened.
The lineage transition is deliberate. Courtly Queef responds to embarrassment through protocol; Renaissance Queef responds through inquiry. The method changes from etiquette to observation, but the evidentiary outcome remains impressively constant at zero.
Catalog transition: EQ.301 opens the Early Modern branch. EQ.302 follows the sound out of the workshop and into cabins, ledgers, and ports.

Three masterpieces absent from the historical record

The Florentine Chamber Study
An observer allegedly responded to a brief acoustic event by drawing the room in rigorous perspective, labeling six reflective surfaces, and leaving the source conspicuously outside the frame. The Institute considers this its earliest example of methodological avoidance.

The Patron’s Unfortunate Sitting
A nonexistent commission is said to have paused when a seated patron shifted at the exact wrong moment. Three explanations followed—furniture, fabric, and weather—each receiving more support than the possibility that the room contained a human body.

The Perspective Problem
A workshop supposedly spent an afternoon attempting to locate a sound by extending sight lines toward a vanishing point. The procedure failed for reasons now obvious to acousticians, geometers, and nearly everyone else.
